Who is Ananya Verma?

Meet Ananya, the creative pulse behind The Ananya Collection. Based in the Bay Area, she’s a choreographer and creative director whose journey began at age five with Kathak. Its discipline, storytelling, and cultural depth became her foundation and still shape the way she moves today. From classical roots to leading Bollywood teams in schools and studios, she has always danced with intention and heart.

What sets Ananya apart is her honesty as an artist. She believes real excellence comes from showing up fully in every space she steps into. Growing up with strong South Asian roots in a dynamic, diverse city, she found her identity at the intersection of tradition and innovation. Her movement reflects both worlds, blending the warmth of home with the rhythm of the Bay.

After college, where she minored in dance, Ananya spent a short stint in corporate life before choosing courage over comfort. She left her job to pursue dance full-time, beginning with six months of intensive training in India. There, she expanded her craft into hip hop and house and earned her professional dance certification. Training on her motherland reshaped her artistry and grounded her in her purpose.

Since then, she has brought her craft to major stages, including Hulu with comedian Zarna Garg, the Golden State Warriors halftime show, and campaigns with Dior, Amazon, Levi’s, Nike, and more.

Today, Ananya works as an instructor, choreographer, and creative director. Even with a packed schedule, she continues to train deeply, build new creative skills, and stay grounded in the communities that shaped her. She stands as a bridge between South Asian art and Western technique, encouraging dancers to grow with intention while honoring where they come from.

Her path is built on grit, curiosity, and an undeniable love for movement. Every piece she creates reflects her story, her roots, and the artist she is becoming.
